Dazzle — Africa’s Wild Knight

A Moment of Your Time, If You Will

Dazzle has been bouncing around in my head—really as three different characters—for over a decade. None of them were named Dazzle, and one wasn’t even the same ethnicity. But one night, while doom-scrolling, I fell down a zebra rabbit hole and suddenly everything clicked.

I learned that zebras have possibly one of the strongest kicks in the animal kingdom—which blew my mind. They’re virtually untamable, can’t be broken like horses, and they will bite when pushed. The real shocker, though, was hearing that zebras cause more injuries to zookeepers than any other animal. That non-submissive nature—that untamed refusal to be controlled—started speaking to me as the foundation for a fresh new character.

So I started Googling: “What is a herd of zebras called?”

I already knew the answer—a dazzle—but this time it hit different. That had to be her name. Dazzle.

From there it became: 50× zebra everything.

Speed. Strength. Durability. Senses. Stamina. All amplified.

Then I learned about the concept of “motion dazzle”—the theory that a zebra’s moving stripes make it difficult for predators to isolate and track one individual. That became another part of her abilities and visual identity.

Who Is Dazzle?

Known as Africa’s Wild Knight, Dazzle moves at Mach speed and possesses the strength to kick over a tank. Her zebra-inspired abilities include extraordinary speed, strength, durability, stamina, and heightened senses.

But Dazzle is more than her powers. She is a protector of refugee camps, vulnerable people, and animals—a fiercely independent hero who refuses to be controlled, broken, or tamed.

Three Silent Issues

Dazzle’s story was developed across three completed silent webcomic issues, told without dialogue or captions. The images carried the action, emotion, danger, and meaning of the story.

The artwork was created with AI as part of the development process, while the character, story, direction, and creative decisions came from years of original ideas and imagination.

The Road to Robot Afro Press

Dazzle became the first long-term project developed by Chandler Windham and Chappy. More importantly, she was the first property ever to bear the Robot Afro Press logo.

That makes Dazzle more than another character in the universe. Her project helped establish the creative process, identity, and independent spirit that would grow into Robot Afro Press.
